"Lecondel"

U.S. and Israel Play Down Hopes for Peace Talks -Steven Erlanger

The long buildup to Annapolis, together with Ms. Rice's many trips to the region, have given birth to a new verb in Israeli government circles: "lecondel," meaning, to come and go for meetings that produce few results.

The word is based on Ms. Rice's first name.

AFter attending these worthless meetings, or worse, meetings where they are mislead, participants usually leave with a different term: "BUSHWHACKED!"

Cute.
But in adopting this posture, Rice and Bush actually are following in Clinton's footsteps: ignoring Palestinian rejectionism and pressing Israel for the ever elusive consession [read appeasement] that will bring a peace.

To some degree, but we are supposed to elarn from the past. Clinton was not the only one to believe there was a path there, as the Israeli government also gave conditional support. And of course, Clinton was looked at as a friend of the world and a respected leader of the greatest nation on earth, not as an invader.
