Capturing the MidEast in short soundbites: poignant reflections by people who understand the complexities of the Middle East. My philosophy is: "less is more." You won't agree with everything that's here, but I'm confident you will find it interesting! Excepting the titles, my own comments are minimal. Instead I rely on news sources to string together what I hope is an interesting, politically challenging, non-partisan, non-ideological narrative.

Abbas Supports Sudan President Accused of Genocide
-Itamar Marcus & Nan Jacques Zilberdik
PA TV reported that PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has expressed his personal support for the president of Sudan, Omar Hassan Al-Bashir, who is accused of being responsible for the genocide in Darfur.
In a letter to the Sudanese president, Abbas wrote that he and Palestinians "have complete faith in the wisdom of President Omar Al-Bashir."

Palestinian Public Opinion -David Pollock
Palestinian public opinion trends 2010 reveal troubling long-term intentions.
Only a minority - 34% of West Bankers, and 23% of Gazans - choose the formulation: the preferred goal is for a two-state solution that keeps two states living side by side.
This is probably because roughly 60% of respondents in both territories say they are "not so certain" that "Israel will exist 25 years from now as a Jewish state with a Jewish majority."
