Capturing the MidEast in short soundbites: poignant
reflections by people who understand the complexities of the Middle East. My philosophy is: "less is more."
You won't agree with everything that's here, but I'm confident you will find it interesting!
Excepting the titles, my own comments are minimal. Instead I rely on news sources to string together what I hope is an interesting, politically challenging, non-partisan, non-ideological narrative.

VideoBite: Empowering Muslim Moderates
A short poignant video about the controversial issue of the nature of Islam and how to empower moderates
A brave and poignant reflection. Stating the obvious - that which stares us all in the face - should in a just society be risk-free. But, the Muslim insecurities and self-conscious religious posturing sanction institutionalized violence wherever the protesters voices are heard. I fear the only real hope is that the Sunnis and Shias simply mutually self-destruct and out of the ashes something tolerant and worthwhile may emerge. But, I doubt it.
Thanks for your comment. Japan might provide a prototype for what we are hoping for. A militarily neutered entity who's talents find expression in other arenas.
