Capturing the MidEast in short soundbites: poignant
reflections by people who understand the complexities of the Middle East. My philosophy is: "less is more."
You won't agree with everything that's here, but I'm confident you will find it interesting!
Excepting the titles, my own comments are minimal. Instead I rely on news sources to string together what I hope is an interesting, politically challenging, non-partisan, non-ideological narrative.
As Senator Joseph Lieberman noted, "Asking Iran and Syria to help us succeed in Iraq is like your local fire department asking a couple of arsonists to help put out the fire." (Heritage Foundation)
While I believe the commission was completely mistaken here, even to the point of commenting about it on my own blog, I have to admit that Joe sounding off on it almost makes me rethink my position. At this point, after Joe told us how well things were going in Iraq after his visit there (did he really ever get off the plane?). Having Joe give a soundbite about Iraq was a lot like relying on Neville Chamberlain on how to contain the Nazis.
