Moving words of Judge Fox as he sentences US terrorist

Sentence for Crashing Car into Crowd

Mohammed Taheri-Azar [pictured above], who pleaded guilty to nine counts of attempted first-degree murder after driving into a crowd of students in 2006 at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, will spend as long as 33 years in prison, Orange County Superior Judge Carl Fox ruled.

"One of the things our government won't tolerate - and after 9/11 our citizens won't tolerate - is trying to use Americans as punching bags or targets for terrorist acts or mindless acts," Fox said.

[In t]he attack, which resulted in injuries but no deaths, Taheri-Azara alleged that it was a response to targeting of Muslims throughout the world.

Certainly our citizens won't tolerate this. It really is not clear to me during this administration, what motivates our government or what they are really after.

With so much focus in the news on controversial and bad decisions made by judges, it was nice to see the news highlight one who gets it right. :)
