Capturing the MidEast in short soundbites: poignant
reflections by people who understand the complexities of the Middle East. My philosophy is: "less is more."
You won't agree with everything that's here, but I'm confident you will find it interesting!
Excepting the titles, my own comments are minimal. Instead I rely on news sources to string together what I hope is an interesting, politically challenging, non-partisan, non-ideological narrative.
Interesting. The UN has certainly been a major disappointment in dealing with Israel on the world stage. Its anti Israel stances and rhetoric have empowered these organizations by making it seem the same naive and weak organization as its predecessor;the League of Nations.
I've heard banter that, like the League of Nations, some have considered disbanding/abandoning the UN and forming a United Democratic Nations organization. An interesting idea.
I do not think that would work. Either you leave out a big chunk of the world and so you are not a completely legitimate body, or you keep them and end up in the same place. I don;t think there is an easy answer, which is why we keep arriving to the same near dead end. It is not like Israel gets fair treatment from all the free and democratic nations either. It is amazing to me how the opinions, ideas and ideals of so many people in the world just don't make sense. And obviously, with the way they think, they would feel the same way about my opinions.

You're right, a United Democratic Nations would not work either...but it captured my imagination when I read about it.
