By insisting that the Palestinians first construct durable and transparent institutions before attaining independence, Bush effectively reversed the process set out in the 1993 Oslo Accords whereby the Palestinians would obtain statehood immediately and only later engage in institution-building.

Would that Bush only were to use these same standards for his administration, then he could call for impeachment hearings to begin unless he chooses to stop breaking constitutional law, lying to the public, and getting our youth killed under false pretenses. Admittedly, it was nice of him to start somewhere, but it might be more effective in today's world if he led by example.
