A lot of religions and cultures seem to treat women as second class, but none more dangerously (though some come close with genital mutilation in Africa and 'honor killings' in India, etc.) than the total disregard extreme fundamentalist Muslims seem to have towards their women. Women need to organize and stand up for their rights. But women need education and enlightenment. Look at the many women in this country who vote for backward conservatives that think they belong in the kitchen barefoot and pregnant because they are not so sure that is not really the case. We have a long way to go.
