Capturing the MidEast in short soundbites: poignant reflections by people who understand the complexities of the Middle East. My philosophy is: "less is more." You won't agree with everything that's here, but I'm confident you will find it interesting! Excepting the titles, my own comments are minimal. Instead I rely on news sources to string together what I hope is an interesting, politically challenging, non-partisan, non-ideological narrative.

It is hard to call it a green light but it also is not the desired condemnation. I found that a State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the U.S. was seeking more information about what was agreed, and that reconciliation was an internal matter for Palestinians. It appears this is considered a done deal.
A done deal yes with no consequences. The US should seriously consider sanctions in the form of withholding funds. Obama giving the Palestinians a free ride is a serious mistake. Shame on him that he needs the Congress to correct his Arabist perspective.
