Capturing the MidEast in short soundbites: poignant reflections by people who understand the complexities of the Middle East. My philosophy is: "less is more." You won't agree with everything that's here, but I'm confident you will find it interesting! Excepting the titles, my own comments are minimal. Instead I rely on news sources to string together what I hope is an interesting, politically challenging, non-partisan, non-ideological narrative.

Feminist Army
The Israel Defense Forces: First for Women -Nick Hopkins
The Israeli military is the most progressive in the world in terms of gender equality. Almost one-third of the force and 50% of its officers are female. Some 92% of roles are now open to women.
In the UK, only 13% of the armed forces are women, while there are only slightly more in the U.S. army (13.4%).

Israel enforces conscription! It's different to volunteering to serve in those places.
Of course Israel has a draft...but I would redirect you to those stats...just because women are drafted doesn't mean they will encounter freedom of mobility and a welcoming view of their talents. I stand by the title of "Feminist Army."
