Syrian Regime Loyalists Losing Confidence -Rami G. Khouri

Bashar Assad's regime is fatally injured. It is losing credibility and confidence with those who have supported and served it for decades, especially security agency personnel.

The fighting in Damascus and the bombing of the national security council meeting indicate that if the regime cannot protect its top military officers, whom can it protect? Such questioning by regime loyalists will determine the pace of the regime's collapse.

[T]he center of gravity of this political struggle shifted to military developments.

UPDATE:

WMD transfer to Hezbollah would justify war -Herb Keinon

The transfer of chemical weapons from Syria to Hezbollah is a clear casus belli, and Israel will act "decisively and without hesitation or restraint," Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman said.

Speaking at a press conference at the EU-Israel Association Council meeting in Brussels, Liberman said this would be "a completely different ballgame, and we hope for the understanding and cooperation of the international community."
